
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico January of 1955, Rubén Miranda started his formal work in fine arts in 1971, while completing his B.A. in Education from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras, PR. It was there where he studied printmaking, drawing, painting & sculpture under the wing of professors like Felix Bonilla Norat, Luis Hernández Cruz & Susana Herrero.
After graduating he moved to Florida where he continued his studies in Art at Florida State University in Tallahassee, and finished his Master Degree in Fine Arts.
In 1976, Ruben won awards in painting and drawing at the Festival de Navidad del Ateneo Puertorriqueño.In 1981 was recipient of an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Florida Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. His work is included in the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in San Juan, Puerto Rico, The Mobil Oil Caribe Corporation in San Juan, Puerto Rico, most recently part of the Serie Project in Austin, Texas also finalist in The Hunting Prize Art Exhibit in Houston, other exhibits in the DFW Metroplex and in Puerto Rico. Ruben has been a Texan for most of his life in the United States. He has lived in Buda for the last two years after having spent over 22 years in Grapevine. He is a member of the Visual Art Society of Texas, The Texas Artist Coalition and The Artist Coalition of Puerto Rico.
